Founded in 2008, Edmonton Academy of Music is a southwest Edmonton music school. We believe in prioritizing building long-lasting relationships with our students—training and guiding them through their technique, repertoire and performance.
Our vision is to provide an environment for students of all ages to explore the world of music through exceptional music instruction, led by our talented roster of music teachers. Our students range from young children who are just beginning their musical journey to those wishing to pursue music as a hobby, while others desire to take a more formal route with music by studying music as a career, preparing for music exams and auditions. Whether you are looking to explore music for personal enjoyment or to develop a proficiency in an instrument or your voice, Edmonton Academy is your first choice in helping you reach your highest potential.
I have always had a passion and place for music in my life. At an early age my parents immersed me in music and dance lessons. I love different genres of music. Music feeds my soul and brings me joy. It’s what fuels and inspires me. Attending musical, theatrical and dance performances are my happy place.
Starting EAOM was a courageous step to create an amazing music school to foster creativity and musical gifts in students. I wanted to build a team of amazing teachers who would encourage and develop students in their musical ability. Creating opportunities for students to share their music through performances and special events.
I love seeing our students grow throughout the years they are with us. Some come to us as early as 6 yr and we see them grow and mature right until they graduate. They have built great relationships with our teachers, gained confidence and developed in their chosen instrument or voice. That experience will be with them throughout their lives.
I value helping others realizing their potential. I love growth and building relationships with our music families. Creating experiences and events that promote growth, creativity, connection and inspiration is what Edmonton Academy of Music is all about.
We believe each student is unique and have different ways they learn. We understand that some students are visual learners, auditory, kinesthetic and others hands on. Teachers structure their lessons to include different elements in each lesson. For the younger students we have an off-bench and on-bench approach that proves to be the most effective for their learning as it keeps them present and focused. Using musical games as well as listening to pieces helps deepen their learning and understanding of music and all of its intricacies.
We encourage collaboration with the student to bring in music ideas that they want to learn, as well as taking students through method books to develop their skills on their chosen instrument or voice. We like to foster our students’ performance skills, whether it’s a solo piece or playing with other students, as it creates confidence in their ability to play in front of an audience.
