Today, standard drum kits are composed of a snare drum, a bass drum, two toms (cylindrical drums), a hi-hat (two mounted cymbals), and another single cymbal. Generally, drums are played using drumsticks or brushes and form the backbone of the percussion section, responsible for keeping the rhythm.
Beginner classes will teach proper drumming technique, basic rhythm, and set playing. The lessons will combine music theory with modern musical examples to deliver a broad education. Intermediate and Advanced classes will focus on specific drum-set styles, orchestral and rudimentary snare drum technique, and drum analysis and transcription.
